100% of all sales goes to a reputable non-profit organization that helps to protect the Arctic. The Arctic plays a key role in safeguarding Earth’s unique atmosphere. It is presently threatened by accelerated climate degradation, increased road construction, shipping traffic, oil and gas exploration, ocean pollution, and mining. Scientists project that the Arctic Ocean will be completely ice-free by the summer of 2030. When combined with Arctic land ice loss, this will result in massive extinctions and population disruptions, irreversibly changing life on Earth as we know it. We all depend on the Arctic to keep the global climate stable, to keep methane and carbon dioxide below its surface from escaping into the atmosphere, and to keep sea levels from rising.

5 Tips for Better Landscape Photographs

I often get asked “How can I take better landscape photographs”? I simply answer you can’t, unless you change your mindset. What do I mean by that? I mean in order to “take” better landscape photographs, you need to change the word “take to make”. Once you understand that anyone can take a landscape and others can make a photograph, you have taken your first steps into the Art of Photography. Today I will be explaining tips on how to make and improve your landscape photography.

  1. Don’t be what I like to call a “Side of the Road Shooter” or worse “Side of the Window Shooter”. What do I mean by that? Don’t simply go to a scenic location, get out of the van and shoot. To create or better yet “make” a better landscape photograph takes time and effort.

  2. Know your subject. This phrase is often used for wildlife photography, but it can be used in landscape photography too. Simply, one must understand that some landscapes look better in certain light. Whether it be golden light, soft light, indirect light. and so forth.

  3. Move to your left. What I mean by that is sometimes the “shot” is only obtainable by moving a couple inches to your left. It can also greatly improve your composition.

  4. Know when to search for locations. That being said, I do most of my searching at noon when the sun is at its hardest.

    .

  5. This rule is a bummer: Skip dinner. Why? Because most restaurants usually serve dinner between 7 through 8, sometimes 9. The best light is at that time.
