Your 2020 small business holiday to-do list
How organized are you for the upcoming holiday rush?
Whether you’re a confident or nervous, the festive holiday season is typically a busy time for everyone. During the holiday season might feel like navigating uncharted territory.
Even in challenging and hard times, people will still want to celebrate and exchange gifts. You should plan your holiday marketing strategies accordingly to get the most from this holiday season.
To help you get ready for the upcoming holiday rush and make more meaningful connections with customers we’ve developed some practical tips to help you along.
Create a holiday budget & stick to it. Keep it realistic and simple.
Get inspired. Check out what other small businesses do during the holiday season. Look at Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, and look at Facebook advertisements to gather ideas.
Do some research. What are your customers looking for this holiday season? How will you meet their needs?
Prepare your inventory. Don’t wait until the last minute.
Order your advertising materials. Now is the time to stock up.
Plan your Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales. How are you organizing you sales & how are you running them? When does each sale launch? How will you advertise the sales? Start drafting emails now, so you'll be ready to hit 'send' when the time comes.
Decorate your storefront. Deck out your storefront with festive window art, banners, and decals. Go the extra mile. Inside, play your favorite holiday music and don’t forget to get creative (look for scents like cinnamon and evergreen) to set the mood.
Deck out your website. If you have a website, fix and update it with holiday-ready (on-brand!) details - maybe a mistletoe-inspired homepage banner or curated gift shop page.
Order your holiday cards in advance. Make sure you order enough. It’s easy to underestimate your needs in this area, so order more than you think you need.
Launch your Black Friday sale. The day after Thanksgiving is a pivotal day to market to your customers - let them know you will be doing special discounts for the holiday season.
Hang up posters and banners. Announce upcoming sales to attract potential customers and interest existing customers.
